Hi there, beautiful ladies. It’s Camiie & today, I want to dive into a topic that has been close to my heart: confidence. Over the years, I've discovered some incredible tips that have helped me boost my confidence and welcome the complexities that come with it. Join me as I discuss these three life-changing tips that helped shift my mindset around confidence.

Tip 1: Know Your Worth, Then Add Tax:

The first tip I want to share is all about recognizing your value and what sets you apart from the rest. As Breinie Lee, a YouTube guru, once said, "Know your worth, then add tax." This quote resonated with me once I began dating. Committing to a serious relationship requires you to realize the importance of valuing yourself. Once I began digging deeper and understanding my skills, talents, and strengths, it gave me a sense of confidence and allowed me to uncover my true value in this world.

Tip 2: Do Whatever the F**k You Want:

The second tip revolves around showing up as your authentic self and disregarding other people's opinions. Growing up, I struggled with showing up as my true self and constantly trying to fit in. This is often common in adolescent years although, it still can affect us in adulthood. I've learned that people already have their minds made up about you, so why not do whatever makes you happy? This newfound mindset permitted me to express myself, brought a sense of liberation, & boosted my confidence tremendously.

Tip 3: Accept Yourself As You Are:

The final tip is all about celebrating your individuality. With over 7 billion people on this planet, there is no one else quite like you. Understanding this and owning your individuality is a powerful way to increase your confidence. The fact that we are uniquely crafted is such a beautiful thing. Your DNA sets you apart, and that is something to be proud of.

Applying These Tips:

Implementing these tips in my life wasn't always easy. I faced challenges like identifying my true value, effectively communicating my strengths, and breaking free from societal norms. By knowing my worth, expressing myself authentically, and celebrating my individuality, I have experienced a significant transformation in my self-perception and overall well-being.

Setting the Birkenstock Trend

I want to share a brief story with you, back in grade school, when I didn’t have confidence in myself. Looking back on it, I wish I had the confidence, however, I’m proud of the way things played out for me in the end.

I bought a pair of knockoff Birkenstocks before they were even popular at my school. I wore them in my eighth-grade cafeteria & everyone made fun of me. Kids laughed saying “What are those” and asking me if I was wearing Jesus sandals. Next thing you know the popular girl in my eighth-grade class wore those same sandals less than two weeks later and everyone loved them. You guessed correctly within a month every girl in my eighth-grade class wore those Birkenstocks. The only difference is they were wearing the real Birkenstocks. Hey not everyone can afford the real thing but at least I started a trend - I never got credit for it.  If I remember correctly, I didn’t wear my fake Birkenstocks again until freshman year. Here’s 21-year-old me validating my eighth-grade experience what a wonderful time it was at CV.
